A 19th century chateau in 3 ha of parklands with their lakes, dominating the plain facing Mount Pilat in the Viennois region. In the French department of Isère, in the middle of the Viennois region, facing Mount Pilat and its hills planted with vines (Côtes-Rôties, Condrieu, and Saint-Joseph). A motorway slip road is but ten minutes away. Lyon and Saint-Exupéry International Airport are 50 minutes away as is the TGV train station with its 2-hour links to Paris. Marseille is only 165 minutes away whilst ski resorts are 120 minutes away. Standing looking out over the Rhone Valley plain, this chateau is surrounded by a perimeter wall, made of stone and silica rolled pebbles laid in a fish-scale pattern, typical of the local area. The driveway winds through the parklands between the lakes amidst the meticulously kept natural surroundings, enhanced with one hundred year old trees. The chateau was constructed at the end of the 19th century for a doctor who had a spring on the north side of the parklands diverted to create Versailles style waterfalls. He also had an upper ornamental pool made with a fountain going up to a height of 4 to 6 m, the water then draining into one small lake, followed by another. The infinity swimming pool, recently installed near to the chateau, resembles a fourth little lake. The large outbuilding, made of rammed clay, separates and isolates the chateau from the caretakers cottage, set on the edge of the property with an independent entrance. The chateauThis chateau spans three levels above cellars running its full floor surface area. A square building flanked with two round towers at the back, its front facade is preceded by a superb terrace enclosed by balusters. Ground floor The heavy entrance door opens into a large vestibule with mosaic floor tiles topped with a French ceiling. It provides access on either side to two wonderful reception rooms. The refined decor in one is richly enhanced with panelling and moulding. This room, heated by a marble fireplace and illuminated by four openings, has parquet flooring. However, with its French ceiling and its dressed stone fireplace, the dining room is more rustic. It communicates with the kitchen. The second part of the vestibule houses a superb stairway with stone steps leading to the upper floors. It also provides access to a bedroom laid out behind the first reception room. Spacious and luminous, this room has its own bathroom, with a mosaic floor, set in one of the towers. First floor The first floor includes a vast suite as well as a bedroom with its own bathroom and a large billiards room. This level has parquet flooring throughout. Its spacious rooms are bathed in light. The suite comprises a large bedroom, with an old fireplace, a bathroom and a dressing room fitted with numerous cupboards and hanging spaces concealed behind a series of old doors. Second floor The second floor has four large bedrooms. The two bedrooms at the back of the chateau have the advantage of being made bigger by small curved rooms in a corner courtesy of the towers. The two others have a shower room with a toilet. A second stairway goes up to the attic space. Attic The attic space is not currently converted and could be used to increase living space if so required. The roofing framework has been fully treated and is in pristine condition. Cellar A lower stairway provides easy access to the cellars laid out in the basement. One of them houses the boiler room. The swimming pool and the lakesThe infinity swimming pool was constructed to resemble yet another lake. With its salt-filtration system, it spans approx. 16x9 m. The parklands are planted with numerous trees and flowering plants, cleverly laid out so as to enhance the little ...
